Google SEO Changes and Additions

Google has been on the move lately making a number of additions and changes that will directly affect the way Organic Search Engine Results are displayed.  These include:

Google Hummingbird:

Google recently launched a new algorithm named "Hummingbird" which the Search Engine says is faster and more precise.  Based strongly on their contextually-targeting knowledge-graph and faster delivery of results, Hummingbird is set to change the way people search and receive their results.  Instead of looking mostly at keywords in a search query they now look at the intent of the search phrase, defining the difference between like words (e.g. Apple - compter company or fruit) among other amazing advancements.

Google Penguin:

Google's Penguin algorithm has been updated again and is now Penguin 2.1.  Penguin targets spam, unnatural and low-quality backlinks to a website.  This can include link spam within blog comments, user profiles, landing sites, paid links and even guest blogs that are low quality or not relevant.  Penguin has changed the game when it comes to building backlinks by making it far more difficult to create or obtain quality Follow links.  However this makes links that are natural and high-quality much more potent in helping rankings.

Google's Panda:

Google's Panda algo focuses on site and content quality.  Gone are the days where keyword stuffing, low quality or auto-generated content help your site or duplicated content provides a benefit.  These days it is important to make the content on your site unique, in-depth, relevant and natural.  It has become a lot more about specifically targeting relevance in your content and on each webpage.

Google Authorship:

Google no longer promotes the use of the rel="author" and rel="publisher" tags to define the author of content, whether organization or individual.
